DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IS KEY TO RESILIENCE OF INDONESIAN PAREKRAF

THE INDONESIAN Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy said that digital transformation is the key to the resilience of many businesses, especially in the tourism and creative economy (parekraf) sector in Indonesia.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, at the “Bimtek Go Digital” event held at Garden Corner Bali on Thursday (10/17), 2024, he revealed that the number of internet users in Indonesia in early 2024 had reached more than 215 million people.

This number is a potential that must be maximized by Balinese creative economy actors with a digital approach. Here, creative economy actors must be able to carry out promotional activities to creatively sell through digital platforms.

“The digital lifestyle behavior of consumers in the new normal conditions has increased very rapidly. Therefore, business actors need to take advantage of digitalization to develop their businesses,” said Sandiaga.

Creative economy players also need to be familiar with new types of digital capital, such as fintech, customized marketing, the use of big data analytics that can provide insights, more productive and efficient market forecasting, the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) to collect data, cloud and blockchain technologies, NFT and metaverse, and so on.

“To do this, we need to improve the quality of human resources so that they are able to use technology to increase our productivity and generate new innovations,” Sandiaga stated.

The Go Digital Bimtek program, which was attended by 100 participants, is part of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy’s commitment to support human resource development through upskilling, retraining and entrepreneurship programs in the tourism and creative economy sectors.

This is also in line with the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Transformation in ASEAN study on business trends in Indonesia to face the future by turning challenges into opportunities, especially through digital transformation.

“Hopefully, we can all be part of the driving force of Indonesia’s economy and improve people’s welfare,” Sandiaga concluded. [traveltext.id]
