PASSENGERS of Garuda Indonesia Airlines will no longer be free to choose their seats on their scheduled flights. Starting Friday (10/25), 2024 passengers will be charged additional fees outside the ticket price.
According to the President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, explained that this program is a special promotion for passengers who want to plan their trips in advance by choosing flight seats.
In addition, he said, this is also one of Garuda Indonesia’s ways to meet the public’s preference for increasingly diverse flight seat choices.
“We present this added value through the flexibility of passengers’ preferred flight seat choice, which can be selected well in advance of the check-in process,” Irfan said in a written statement on Friday (10/25).
With this program, passengers, especially Eco Promo and Eco Affordable ticket holders, will have the opportunity to choose wider seats in the front row of the aircraft and in the emergency seating rows.
However, Eco Promo ticket holders can also choose regular seats at an additional cost ranging from IDR85,000 to IDR199,000. Irfan said that the option to choose seats without being charged can still be done before check-in.
“With the introduction of this program, we can ensure that the opportunity to choose flight seats without being charged can still be accessed during the check-in process, which in this case is 48 hours before the flight departure schedule,” Irfan added.
Meanwhile, seat selection is free for GarudaMiles Platinum members, SkyTeam Elite Plus members and Eco Comfort ticket holders. Details of Garuda Indonesia’s new policy are as follows: (1). Extra legroom seats such as Row 21 and Emergency Seats will be subject to a surcharge when booking tickets both online and offline, (2). Regular seats will be subject to a surcharge for both online and offline ticket purchases.
(3). You may select your preferred seat, either an Extra Legroom seat or a regular seat, according to your preference, with a surcharge indicated at the time of purchase. (4). Specific to the purchase of seat row 21, valid only for the left and right side on B777 and A330 aircraft, (5).
