PT GARUDA Indonesia Tbk revealed the latest progress regarding the company’s merger plan with Pelita Air.
According to Garuda Indonesia’s President Director, Wamildan Tsani, said the exploration of the corporate action is currently still in the initial discussion stage with related parties.
Wamildan is positive and will fully support the merger plan, which will of course be based on a comprehensive and prudent study of the company’s business outlook and performance.
“We will further communicate the progress of this merger plan if there are significant developments related to the stages or implementation of the strategic plan,” Wamildan said in an information release on Wednesday (01/08), 2025.
As previously reported, Garuda Indonesia will add 15 to 20 more aircraft in 2025. The addition of these aircraft will be through an aircraft leasing arrangement (lessor) with a tenant (lessee).
“Our target in 2025 is to add more aircraft. About 15-20 more aircraft,” Wamildan said at the BUMN office some time ago.
Unfortunately, he could not provide the amount of investment that GIAA would spend to lease the additional 15-20 aircraft.
As for the source of funds, Wamildan said that this would still be discussed with the Ministry of State Enterprises and the Ministry of Transportation. Nevertheless, Garuda Indonesia admitted that it still has personal funds.
“As for the source of funds, of course we will communicate it later with the government, with the SOEs, with the Ministry of Transportation. But we also have operational cash, so there is an idea,” Wamildan concluded. [sources/photo special]
