JANUARY 24, 2025, as the first commemoration of the International Day of Education (IDE) in Indonesia. The theme of the event is “The Power of Youth in Building the Future of Learning”. This initiative is a collaboration between PATA Indonesia Chapter and LSPR Institute of Communication & Business.
It aims to highlight the strategic role of youth in building a more inclusive, sustainable and relevant future for education. This event is also supported by various partners including World Tourism Day Indonesia Foundation, Eljohn Indonesia, Indonesian Tourism Scholars Association (ICPI), World Tourism Network Indonesia, Association of Indonesian Higher Education Institutions in Tourism, Santika Indonesia Hotels & Resorts, and numerous universities across Indonesia.
According to PATA Indonesia Chapter President/CEO Poernomo Siswoprasetijo said the event features national and international speakers with expertise in education, tourism and youth empowerment. The discussions will provide in-depth insights on the importance of educational innovation, youth engagement and cross-sectoral approaches in building a resilient education ecosystem in a hybrid format.
Meanwhile, the Vice Rector of LSPR Institute of Communication & Business, Janette M. Pinariya, hopes that a quality education system can produce a generation of youth who are responsible, open-minded and ready to compete globally to build a better future.
Likewise, the Chairman of ICPI and Board Member of PATA Indonesia Chapter, Prof. Azril Azhari said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology is now being used in various sectors, including education. Not only are students using AI technology, but teachers are also playing a crucial role in integrating AI into teaching practices.
Poernomo Siswoprasetijo explained that youth are the key to change. Through the International Day of Education, we hope to motivate Indonesian youth to take an active role in the future of learning. Hosting the first-ever IDE 2025 in Indonesia is a testament to our commitment to education as the foundation for sustainable development. We want to inspire and empower young people to actively transform education systems.
“We firmly believe that no one should be left behind on the path to a more inclusive and sustainable future. This initiative is in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 (Quality Education), which highlights the importance of quality, inclusive and equitable education for all,” he affirmed.
At the same time, PATA Indonesia Chapter Secretary General Ningsih Chandra added that cross-sector collaboration involving youth, educational institutions, government, and the business sector/industry is key to the success of education in today’s global and digital age. Today, we are not only celebrating education, but also reaffirming our commitment to empowering youth as agents of change.
“The collaboration with LSPR Institute of Communication & Business serves as a strategic step to ensure the success of this event and its benefits for the participants. The event agenda will also include panel discussions and interactive sessions involving youth from various educational institutions and universities across Indonesia.,” she noted.
Ningsih added that IDE 2025 reflects the commitment of the PATA Indonesia Chapter and the LSPR Institute of Communication and Business to promote the achievement of SDG No. 4. With education as the main foundation, the event aims to shape a generation of responsible, knowledgeable and globally competitive youth to build a better future.
The International Day of Education provides a platform for young people to showcase their ideas, creativity and passion in addressing the challenges of education in the future. It is hoped that this event will inspire all segments of society to continue supporting the transformation of education in Indonesia.
