JETSTAR Asia launched its inaugural flight on the Labuan Bajo-Singapore route at Komodo Airport, Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, NTT, on Thursday (3/20), 2025. The Deputy Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Johanis Asadoma, officially launched the inaugural flight of Jetstar Asia airline on Thursday (03/20) afternoon.
According to Johanis said that the opening of the international flight route was an important step in increasing tourist accessibility to Labuan Bajo. The opening of Jetstar Asia’s new route is expected to increase the number of foreign tourists visiting Labuan Bajo and have a positive impact on the local economy.
“With the increasing number of direct flights from various international cities, Labuan Bajo will be increasingly known as a world-class destination. This success is the result of the cooperation of all parties, both from the central government, regional governments and the private sector who also support the development of tourism infrastructure,” he said.
Meanwhile, Komodo Airport Director, Cepy Triyono said that since Komodo Airport was designated as an international airport by the Decree of the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 31 of 2024, many airlines have shown interest in opening international routes to Labuan Bajo.
“After various efforts and negotiations, Jetstar Asia is the second airline to officially open international flights to Komodo Airport, with a direct route from Changi Airport in Singapore,” Cepy affirmed.
He said the flight was an important part of the history of tourism and economic development in East Nusa Tenggara, especially in West Manggarai. This flight has really opened the door for international tourists to enjoy the unique natural and cultural beauty of Labuan Bajo and its surroundings. I hope this route can increase the income of the local people and create more job opportunities in the tourism and creative industries.
