RI-FRANCE COOPERATION TO COVER CREATIVE, DIGITAL ECONOMY: GOVERNMENT

FOREIGN Affairs Minister Sugiono has said that the creative and digital economy will be among the focuses of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and France in the economic sector.

“Regarding the creative and digital economy, we agreed to strengthen collaboration to create a digital economy ecosystem,” he informed at a press conference after a meeting with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noel Barrot, in Jakarta on Wednesday (03/26), 2025.

He said that the strengthening of the digital economy ecosystem will include cooperation in the training of creative talents, including those working in the film industry.

The minister expressed the hope that more joint projects can be realized between Indonesia and France in the creative economy and digital fields, including training and access to cooperation for young digital talents.

According to Sugiono, the creative economy is one of the sectors that is expected to develop further through investment cooperation with France.

He said that investment from France is also expected in renewable energy, critical minerals, logistics and transportation, and green infrastructure.

He further said that cooperation between Indonesia and France will also focus on energy transition, food security, defense, digital transformation, and cultural relations.

The minister expressed optimism that France’s investment in Indonesia will continue to increase; especially considering that investment from France reached US$328 million in 2024.

He expressed the hope that the cooperation would bring concrete results for the people of both countries and enhance bilateral relations. In addition to economic cooperation, the two ministers discussed defense cooperation and efforts to realize regional stability, as well as concrete efforts to bolster cooperation in other fields.

They also discussed the state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Indonesia, which is scheduled to take place in May 2025. [antaranews]
