AHEAD of the Idul Fitr holiday, Agoda has recorded an increase of nearly 80% in the search for accommodation by tourists from Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore for the celebration of the Idul Fitr holiday this year.
Idul Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, is not only an important moment for Muslims to celebrate Eid, but also a major holiday period. In addition to gathering with family, many people choose to travel to enjoy new experiences or visit destinations with the nuances of typical celebrations.
But for travel industry players, this is also a good opportunity to offer services tailored to the needs of Muslim tourists. According to the Global Report of the Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) 2024, more than 70% of the global Muslim population is under the age of 40.
This group is known to be digitally active, has high spending power and is looking for a travel experience that aligns with their values and preferences, including halal tourism choices.
According to Gede Gunawan, Senior Country Director of Indonesia at Agoda, said understanding travel patterns during the main holiday season in Asia is very important for the hospitality industry.
“The Eid holiday is one of the busiest holidays in the region, with many tourists looking for unique experiences abroad. Hotels that are able to provide services and facilities that meet the needs of tourists during this period have a greater opportunity to attract business,” he said.
