TOURISM Indonesian airline AirAsia is launching direct flights from Denpasar, Bali to Adelaide, Australia. This will be the fourth flight connecting Bali and Australia, following the launch of the Bali to Darwin, Cairns and Perth route.
According to the President Director of Indonesia AirAsia, Veraman Yosephine Sinaga, this route is the first time for Indonesia AirAsia to offer flights to South Australia.
“We are opening up access for tourists from South Australia to connect to more than 130 destinations in Asia and the surrounding regions through the AirAsia Group network, with Bali as the main center,” Veraman said through a written statement recently.
According to Veraman, Australia is one of the markets with significant growth for the low-cost carrier. Bali is a popular destination for tourists from southern Australia, and we understand the great demand for flights at affordable prices. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency or BPS Indonesia in 2024, Australian tourists ranked second as the most visitors to Indonesia with more than 1.6 million tourists, after Malaysia as many as 2.2 million tourists.
“This is in line with the data of Australian tourist visits to Bali in 2024, which reached 1.5 million tourists. This number increased by 16.59 percent compared to 2023, which only reached 1.3 million tourists. This fact confirms that Bali remains a popular destination for Australian tourists,” Veraman affirmed.
Meanwhile, Adelaide Airport Managing Director Brenton Cox said the presence of this flight service provides more choices for tourists.
“We continue to expand the international air network with ambitious goals to reach 14 international destinations with direct flights in 2030 and 39 international routes in 2050,” Veraman added.
Similarly, the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Sydney, Vedi Kurnia Buana, said the initiative to launch Indonesia AirAsia’s new direct route between Bali and Adelaide not only provides more opportunities for Australian tourists to enjoy the attractions of Bali and other destinations in Indonesia. It also encourages Indonesian tourists to explore the rich history and culture of South Australia.
“In addition to supporting tourism growth and economic opportunities in both countries. This route will strengthen connectivity, increase tourist visits and open up opportunities for cooperation in various sectors,” Vedi concluded. [sources/photo special]
