MAB-SIA LAUNCH STRATEGIC BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP ON NEW JOINT FARE PRODUCT

MALAYSIA Airlines (MAB) and Singapore Airlines (SIA) launched a joint strategic business partnership, which was formalized in January 2026 following regulatory approval. This partnership marked the launch of a joint fare product for travel between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

This new joint fare offering complements the existing codeshare partnership between the two airlines, enabling MAB and SIA to provide more fare options for customers traveling between the two capitals, while enhancing connectivity to destinations within their combined network.

MAB and SIA are also preparing to gradually roll out additional customer benefits, including reciprocal lounge access, coordinated flight schedule arrangements, and joint corporate travel arrangements.

This initiative reflects the deepening commercial collaboration between the two airlines and their shared commitment to enhancing connectivity between Malaysia, Singapore, and the wider region.

According to Bryan Foong, Chief Executive Officer of Airline Business, Malaysia Aviation Group, said that this joint business partnership with Singapore Airlines marks a significant milestone in the expansion of our commercial collaboration.

“Through the launch of our joint fare product, we are providing customers with more choice, greater flexibility, and a smoother travel experience. This collaboration also lays the foundation for deeper network integration, which will ultimately benefit both leisure and business travelers,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lee Lik Hsin, Chief Commercial Officer, Singapore Airlines, said the launch of our joint fare product with Malaysia Airlines expands fare options for customers traveling between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, while providing greater flexibility and convenience in planning their travels.

“As this collaboration deepens, we will continue to combine the strengths of both airlines to enhance our offerings and provide greater value for customers, while strengthening the long-standing people-to-people and trade ties between Singapore and Malaysia,” he affirmed.

Since signing the commercial cooperation framework agreement in October 2019, MAB and SIA have been gradually expanding their collaboration to provide greater connectivity and more travel options for customers.

Currently, the two airlines have a codeshare agreement for flights in Malaysia, Singapore, Europe, and South Africa. Furthermore, in February 2024, the two airlines also introduced a reciprocal agreement for points collection and redemption between the Enrich and KrisFlyer frequent flyer programs. Through this collaboration, members can collect and redeem miles or points on select flights operated by both airlines. [sources/photo special]
