MINISTRY ASKS TOURISM OFFICE READY TO FACE IN TOURISM LEAP POST-COVID-19

MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy appealed to all heads of tourism agencies to be optimistic and prepare for the projected increase in the performance of the tourism sector after the COVID-19 pandemic ended.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Wishnutama Kusubandio during a Limited Meeting recently (via Video Conference) with several Heads of Tourism Office said, President Joko Widodo predicted that there would be a boom in tourism after the COVID-19 pandemic ended.

“Therefore we must remain optimistic. We must prepare a destination to get the existing tourism potential,” Wishnutama said.

Tourism Minister encourage tourism agencies in the region to be able to fix the destinations in the region, as well as increasingly aggressive in applying the principles of sustainable tourism development (resilience, sustainable, and responsible).

“And according to the “new normal” post-COVID-19 conditions according to the principle of excellent hygiene and sanitation, offering a unique local experience, to good visitor management so that there is no overcrowding,” he said.

Tourism Ministry, said Wishnutama, is also coordinating with tourism stakeholders to prepare for a surge in tourists by making attractive tour packages. So that after the pandemic period is over, Tourism Ministry can immediately aggressively carry out promotions both at home and abroad.

“Certainly as an initial step to move domestic tourists by creating attractive tour packages. We have also communicated with Garuda Indonesia (airlines) to make attractive packages. Later after the pandemic is over we are ready to welcome tourists,” Wishnutama noted.

Meanwhile Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela Tanoesoedibjo asked the tourism department in the region to also actively socialize government policies that can be utilized by employers and parekraf workers in areas related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But on the same occasion, the Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, Putu Astawa explained, his tourism office was preparing steps during the recovery phase in Bali. He said he would promote local wisdom rather than focus on inviting tourists to come.

“If June can recover, coordination will be carried out with all stakeholders. We will invite bloggers, influences, and ambassadors from a number of market-focused countries to work together. After the normalization phase, we will follow up by holding festivals. For Bali we are optimistic that June has begun to rise,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
