TOURISM & CREATIVE ECONOMY MINISTRY HELD A MUSIC COMPETITION

THE Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy held a Lomba Karya Musik Anak Komunitas (Community Children’s Music Work Competition) with entitled ‘Kamu Aku Indonesia’ or You, Me Indonesia, which took place at the Soesilo Soedarman Hall, Tourism Ministry Monday (24/5) night.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, at the event said this activity was a form of appreciation for the diversity of Indonesian culture, including the art of Indonesian music. Even though we are very diverse and have many differences, with music that is very universal, we are excited to be a great nation, a nation that loves and is proud of its culture.

“It was recorded that there were 419 communities that registered themselves for this activity, but with the judging process which was carried out strictly within a predetermined period of time, finally five finalists were selected to present their work at this peak evening event,” he said.

He explained that of the five finalists, who came out as winners, namely: 1st place: Linkrafin, Jember, East Java, 2nd place: Walk On Water, North Sumatra, 3rd place: Cendrawasih Team, Papua, 1st runner up: Kreasi Anak Paser, East Kalimantan , Runner Up 2: Musician Kulon Progo, DIY, and Favorite Winner: Linkrafin.

“Thank you to fellow music communities throughout Indonesia for your participation and tireless enthusiasm for participating in this super cool activity. I congratulate the winners of the 2021 Community Children’s Music Work Competition, actually all of them are winners and I am very amazed by the spectacular performance of the finalists. And this is proof that we have talents that are competitive at the world level,” he noted.

Sandiaga added that the music industry has economic potential as well as the potential to absorb a large number of workers. Currently, there are 18 million Indonesians who depend on the creative economy sector for their livelihoods, including the music industry.

“Many of our musicians have stopped working amid the pandemic. However, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has taken steps of innovation, adaptation, and collaboration, so that we can appreciate the works of local musicians created during this pandemic. We hope that the Indonesian music industry can continue to contribute as a catalyst for the revival of the tourism sector & creative economy in Indonesia,” he concluded.

The assessment aspects for the Community Children’s Music Work Competition consisted of 30% of the top 50 selection assessments, 15% likes on social media, and 55% during peak nights. The winners of the Community Children’s Music Work Competition receive cash prizes and receive facilitation from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

This event implements a strict and disciplined Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) health protocol. All participants take a health test before entering the venue, must wear a mask, wash their hands, and maintain a safe distance.

During the peak night of the Community Children’s Music Work Competition, a life achievement award was also presented for the late Didi Kempot. A campursari maestro who became a guardian of Javanese language and traditions through the art of music.
