HOPEFULLY THAT DIGITAL NOMAD PATTERN CAN BE AN ATTRACTIVE WORK FROM BALI

THE INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy hopes that the digital nomad concept can be an attraction that will strengthen the Work From Bali (WFB) program, especially for the private sector.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Uno in the weekly press briefing, which took place on a hybrid basis, from Gedung Sapta Pesona, Jakarta, Wednesday (2/6) saying we have confidence that work from Bali and tourism The new era that targets new work habits, such as digital nomads, will become a very potential attraction for Bali and several other tourist destinations.

“Therefore, internet support, infrastructure, events, and work environment will be built. This is what we will continue to prepare in line with the work from Bali policy by the government, which is coordinated by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. Digital nomad itself is a term where someone can work by utilizing digital technology, so that they are not bound by time and place,” said Minister Sandiaga.

In addition, Sandiga Uno wants Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) players or artisans in Bali to prepare creative economy products, ranging from culinary, craft, and fashion ahead of the Work From Bali program. Because this work from Bali may only have a 30% impact on hotels, the rest are products of the creative economy, including restaurants. For that, we also need to prepare Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Bali.

When asked about the Tourism Grants and Government Incentive Assistance Fund (BIP), Sandiaga rapidly answered that was still in process and we hoped it could be implemented soon. For the Tourism Grant Fund, an Economic Recovery Program Fund (PEN) for the FY 2021 for the tourism sector of IDR3.7 trillion has been proposed to the Chairman of the COVID-19 Handling Committee and National Economic Recovery (KPC-PEN) with a wider scope of grantees compared to the Grant Fund. Tourism in 2020.

“Meanwhile, the 2021 BIP, with a total budget of IDR60 billion, will be given to six sub-sectors of the creative economy, which include digital applications, game development, fashion, craft, culinary, as well as, film, and the tourism sector (13 types of tourism businesses) according to Law No. 10 of 2009 on tourism),” he stated.

Sandiaga also explained that registration for the BIP or open submission program will open on June 4, 2021 and close on July 4, 2021. The BIP socialization will be broadcast live on the Ministry of Tourism’s YouTube on June 4, including the launch of its website. Technical instructions for each BIP category registration are listed and can be downloaded on the website.

Minister Sandiaga added that regarding the organization of the event, which must be carried out within the framework of strict and disciplined health protocols. Previously, Tourism Ministry together with ITS (Indonesia Triathlon Series) and the local government had successfully held the 2021 Belitung Triathlon and Kendari Triathlon. In addition, there will be international events to be held in the near future, namely the FIBA Asia Cup in August and the World Super Bike in November.

“We will cooperate with all parties, both the COVID-19 Task Force, the local police and of course the Regional Government and the Ministry of Health. Hopefully, with the Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) framework, these national and international events can be carried out,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
