PT KERETA Api Indonesia-China (KCIC) continues to accelerate the Jakarta (Jkt)-Bandung (Bdg) high-speed rail project. Until now, the progress of the project development with an investment value of US$6.07 billion has reached 74%.
KCIC targets the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project to run a trial in November 2022 and operate commercially in 2023. In the future, Indonesian President Joko Widodo will invite Chinese President Xi Jinping to try the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train. This activity was carried out in conjunction with the implementation of the G20 Summit, where Indonesia was the host.
“President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo and President of China Xi Jinping are scheduled to test the high-speed train in November 2022,” said General Manager Corporate Secretary of KCIC, Mirza Soraya in Jakarta, Thursday (6/3).
Established in October 2015, KCIC is a joint venture between a consortium of BUMN through PT Pilar Sinergi BUMN Indonesia (PSBI) and a consortium of Chinese railway companies through Beijing Yawan HSR Co.Ltd, with the main business in the public transportation sector through a business to business (B2B) scheme.
The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train will cover a distance of 142.3 kilometers (km). This train will have four stopping stations, namely Halim (East Jakarta); Karawang; Walini (West Bandung Regency); and Tegalluar (Bandung Regency) with a travel time of 36 minutes to 44 minutes.
The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train will have three classes with a total capacity of 601 passengers and a special room for the disabled. In addition to developing public transportation infrastructure, KCIC is developing an integrated area or Transit Oriented Development (TOD) in each station area (Halim, Karawang, Walini and Tegalluar).
The TOD concept combined with the fast train is believed to be able to facilitate regional access, so as to accelerate the economic growth of the surrounding area. [kontan.co.id/photo antara]
