ART Moments Jakarta Online (AMJO) 2021, which will take place in a hybrid manner, with online performances via www.artmomentsjakarta.com platform held on 1-30 June 2021 and offline performances at three well-known galleries in Jakarta, held at separate times, namely Art Space:1 (20-22 May 2021), D Gallerie (1-3 June 2021), and CAN’S Gallery (18-20 June 2021).
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, in his statement, in Jakarta, Sunday (6/20) said that Art Moments Jakarta is present as a creative industry product that promotes Indonesian art and culture. This is a momentum for the rise of the creative economy industry, especially in the field of art, which will be carried out with a new normal approach such as the application of strict CHSE rules in the implementation of events and exhibitions.
“Hopefully, AMJO2021 as an art fair can be a trigger and mover for other art exhibitions to continue to actively encourage Indonesian artists to improve their quality so that they are competitive and sustainable in the future,” he said.
He explained, as a form of support for artists to stay productive in the midst of a pandemic, the Ministry of Tourism has several activities carried out through the use of digital media. This is because the COVID-19 pandemic has forced everyone to accelerate the digitization process, such as exhibitions from home, and providing incentives for creative and creative actors in the visual arts sub-sector.
In addition, this event is also a form of support from the government, artists, curators, galleries, collectors, and parties involved to encourage Indonesian art exhibitions in the midst of a pandemic. Because as is known, the contribution of the fine arts sub-sector to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is still relatively minimal, only 0.23% or around IDR2.64 trillion. And since the COVID-19 pandemic, the fine arts sub-sector has experienced minus 2.94% economic growth.
As a form of digital adaptation strategy at the AMJO2021 event, the Ministry of Tourism facilitates virtual exhibition rooms and collective works of artists including the works of 9 digital artists that are transacted with crypto currency, in collaboration with Tezos.
Meanwhile, Creative Economy Marketing Director of Tourism Ministry, Yuana Rochma Astuti said that art artists must adapt to digital innovation-based marketing such as virtual exhibitions and the phenomenon of NFT or Non-Fungible Tokens, because many have invested in crypto. Artists, especially young ones, must be quick and eager to respond to this innovation.
NFT (Non-Fungible Token) is ownership of digital assets (crypto assets) that are traded like physical assets, which cannot be duplicated or replicated. By using NFT, it will make it easier for artists to monetize their works of art, thereby accelerating the growth and recovery of Indonesia’s creative economy.
For the global transaction value of NFT in the first quarter of 2021, it was recorded at more than US$2 billion and experienced a significant increase of around 2.1% from the fourth quarter of 2020. By knowing and registering their work at NFT, artists will have the convenience of selling their work and the selling price. maintained based on the authentication of the work owned. [traveltext.id]
