THE Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment said the reopening of Bali for foreign tourists would likely be delayed following an increase in COVID-19 cases, especially with the Delta variant.
According to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan,
at a virtual press conference on Emergency PPKM (implementation of restrictions on community activities), Thursday (7/1), said if for Bali, I think you can answer by yourself. It’s impossible to open the tourism again with this Delta (variant).
“The government is now focusing on efforts to deal with COVID-19. The government will also implement Emergency PPKM in Java and Bali from July 3-20, 2021. So we don’t think there anymore to open foreign tourists to visit Bali. Now we are thinking how to reduce it by injecting as much as possible (vaccines), health protocols, that’s what we are doing now.
Luhut said, in addition to regulating the tightening of activities in Emergency PPKM, the government will also strengthen the 3T (Testing, Tracing, Treatment) system. The government will continue to increase the number of vaccinations. The current vaccination target is 70% of the total population in priority cities/districts no later than August 2021.
