INDONESIA (RI) prohibits the entry of foreign nationals who come from 14 countries related to the Omicron variant of the corona virus. This is done to prevent the spread of this new variant. These rules are contained in the Circular of the COVID-19 Task Force Number 1 of 2022 concerning Health Protocols for Overseas Travel during the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic.
The 14 countries in question are South Africa, Botswana, Norway, France, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini, Lesotho, England and Denmark. In the circular letter, it was stated that Indonesia temporarily closed the entry of foreigners from these 14 countries, or foreigners who had transited in that country. The rules also apply to those who have lived and/or visited the country within 14 days.
This rule takes effect from January 7, 2022. The presence of SE Number 1 of 2022 also replaces circular letter number 26 of 2021 concerning Health Protocols for Overseas Travel During the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic.
The following is the contents of circular letter number 1 of 2022, regarding the rules for foreigners who are prohibited from entering Indonesia:
1. Temporarily close the entry of Foreign Citizens, either directly or in transit in a foreign country, who have lived and/or visited within 14 (fourteen) days from the country/region with the following criteria:
a. Confirmed community transmission of a new variant of SARS CoV-2 B. 1.1,529: South Africa, Botswana, Norway and France;
b. Countries/territories that are geographically close to the community transmission country of new variant B. 1.1.529: Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini, and Lesotho; and/or
c. Countries/territories with confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 B. 1,1,529 more than 10,000 cases: England and Denmark.
2. Temporary closure of the entry of foreigners into Indonesian territory, either directly or in transit in foreign countries, except for travelers who meet the following criteria:
a. Does not have travel history and/or stay within 14 (fourteen) days from the country/region as referred to in number 2;
b. In accordance with the provisions of the Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights No. 34 of 2021 concerning the Granting of Immigration Visas and Residence Permits in the Period of Handling the 2019 Corona Virus Disease Spread and National Economic Recovery;
c. In accordance with the agreement scheme (bilateral), such as the Travel Corridor Arrangement (TCA); and/or
d. Obtain special consideration/permission in writing from the Ministry/Agency. [sources/photo special]
