RI IMMIGRATION ISSUES VISA-FREE VISITS FOR TRAVEL BUBBLE SINGAPORE CITIZENS

THE INDONESIA’S (RI) Directorate General of Immigration issued a Circular Letter (CL) related to the granting of a Visit Visa Free (VVF) specifically for tourism to Singapore citizens (WN) who will vacation in the Bintan and Batam Regions, officially issued, Monday (1/24).

The CL was issued by the Acting Director General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Widodo Ekatjahjana. The VVF facility is provided in line with the travel corridor cooperation between Bintan, Batam and Singapore, known as the Travel Bubble.

“The provision of Tourism Special BVK facilities to Singapore citizens is carried out by applying an Entry Sign (on the passport) which is valid as a Visit Stay Permit (VSP),” said Sub-Coordinator of Public Relations of the Directorate General of Immigration, Achmad Nur Saleh, in a press release on Monday (1/31).

The granting of the VVF facility has a maximum period of fourteen days and cannot be extended. The circular also stipulates special immigration provisions for Indonesian citizens and foreigners other than Singapore who wish to travel to Bintan and Batam.

“Prior to their arrival, they (who will receive VVF) must have been in Singapore for at least 14 days.” said Ahmad.

Achmad reminded, there are four requirements that must be shown upon arrival at the Immigration Checkpoint (IC). Among them are passports that are still valid for at least six months; return ticket to Singapore via the same (IC); proof of ownership of health insurance and proof of booking confirmation and payment for accommodation from the provider.

“The designated immigration checkpoints are Nongsa Maritime Terminal in Batam and Bandar Bentan Telani Lagoi in Tanjung Uban,” said Achmad.

Meanwhile, foreigners other than Singapore citizens who can be given an entry sign to Batam or Bintan include transportation crews and holders of valid visas or residence permits.

Then, diplomatic or service passport holders, and APEC Business Travel Card holders. Visas and residence permits referred to in this case are service visas; diplomatic visa; visit visa and limited stay visa; official residence permit; diplomatic residence permit; limited stay permit and permanent residence permit.

Immigration officers will sort or separate immigration checkpoints, both in the arrival area and departure area, for foreigners or Indonesian citizens in the Travel Bubble mechanism with immigration checkpoints in general.

“We urge that foreigners who are proven to have violated immigration regulations, violated public order, violated the established health protocols and if they enter and exit the Travel Bubble boundaries illegally will be subject to sanctions,” concluded Achmad. [kompas.com/photo special]
