MINISTER of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno received a visit from the Turkish Ambassador to Indonesia Askin Asan, to discuss the potential and expansion of cooperation in the tourism and creative economy sectors.
Minister Sandiaga Uno when meeting the Turkish Ambassador to Indonesia Askin Asan, at the Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, recently explained that Indonesia (RI)-Turkey had had diplomatic relations since 1950. From this good relationship, it has also resulted in various collaborations in various fields, one of which is tourism and creative economy.
“Turkey has a close relationship with Indonesia. Various collaborations have also been carried out in various fields ranging from the economy to increasing trade, investment (infrastructure, energy, and manufacturing), and tourism,” said Sandiaga.
In the tourism sector, the number of Turkish tourists to Indonesia in 2019 reached 23,883 people. This number increased to 14.5% or 3,022 people from the previous year which was 20,861 people. For this reason, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy encourages direct flights from Istanbul to Denpasar (Bali).
“We encourage Turkish Airlines to fly directly from Istanbul to Bali after which it can continue again to Australia and vice versa. This is because the demand for Australian tourists is very large, and additional flights are needed,” he said.
“The creative industry has also become one of the most dynamic economic sectors globally, along with the development of technology, education and innovation,” said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga.
In addition, continued Sandiaga, Turkey, which is famous for Cappadocia with its many colorful hot air balloons, has been widely discussed by the Indonesian people after seeing the latest series in Indonesia, Layangan Putus.
“Cappadocia is really happening here. For that I would like to invite representatives from hot air balloon operators there to collaborate and present them in Indonesia. So that tourists don’t have to go all the way to Cappadocia, just in Indonesia,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
