TOURISM MINISTRY HAS A SPECIAL STRATEGY TO DEVELOP MEGALITHIC TOURISM

THE INDONESIAN Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has formed a special strategy to develop megalithic tourism in the country, which he considers to have great potential to attract tourists.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in Jakarta, Monday (7/4), 2023 said these megalithic sites are cultural heritage from the past which have enormous potential, and I have seen in several places they can become heritage tourism objects. culture.

“Megalithic tourism is an area that holds relics with high historical value. Sandi, the Menparekraf’s nickname, said several locations such as megalithic villages in Flores, Gunung Padang in Cianjur, and Pokekea in Lore Lindu National Park will have high potential for megalithic tourism besides Stone Graves,” he said.

He explained, one of the strategies to develop these heritage sites, explained Sandi, was storynomics tourism, a tourism approach that prioritizes narratives, creative content, and living culture using the power of culture as the blood of a destination.

“So our strategy is to package these object site resources with a story, storynomics, which are diversified from one destination to another, and have differentiation so that we can direct the placement of these cultural tourism products to the right target market,” he added.

Furthermore, Sandiaga said that the packaging of megalithic tourism must be strengthened by the formation of other related tourism ecosystems, such as tourist villages and earth parks (geoparks) around heritage sites.

“Conservation-based approaches and sustainable future infrastructure development will also be prioritized, so that they remain in harmony and do not damage nature. This sustainable development is also an attraction for tourists who are now more inclined to care for the environment,” he remarked.

Apart from massive promotional assistance from the government, Sandiaga explained that improving the quality of human resources related to tourism is also the key to the success of a tourist attraction. Assistance and training starting from the tourism village community, guides to managers of tourist destinations will continue to be carried out.

“Of course there are natural attractions which are very beautiful and the people are very friendly. The village community takes part in maintaining it, ensuring that these megalithic sites will continue to exist for hundreds, thousands, maybe millions of years to come,” concluded Minister Sandiaga.
