TRANSACTIONS WORTH OF US$20.1 MILLION RECORDED AT THE 2024 JMFW EVENT

INDONESIA’S Ministry of Trade disclosed on Sunday that the 2024 Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW), held at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD, Tangerang, Banten, on Oct 19-21, recorded transactions worth US$20.1 million.

The ministry’s Director General of National Export Development Didi Sumedi stated that the total value of the 2024 JMFW’s transactions showed an increase compared to that of the previous edition of JMFW, which was recorded at US$13.2 million.

“The 2024 JMFW has proven itself as an icon of collaboration between fashion stakeholders from upstream to downstream, not only the government, but also business players, academicians, banks, and the media,” he said in a press statement.

Those transactions were recorded from domestic and overseas buyers, including those from the United States, South Korea, France, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Oman, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Bangladesh, and South Africa.

He further said that the recorded transactions signified the trust of international buyers in the excellence of Indonesian modest fashion products.

At the closing of the 2024 JMFW on Saturday, Sumedi also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Indonesian fashion brand AM by Anggiasari and its partner, Susan Erni Dietch, regarding transactions of Indonesian modest fashion products in the US.

A joint statement was also signed by Amal Sultan from L’adresse Paris Agency and seven Indonesian brands — IKYK, Artkea, 3Mongkis, Long Story Short, Christin Wu, Aidan and Ice, and BLP Beauty.

Through the joint statement, Sultan would help promote Indonesian modest fashion products to the European market. The JMFW is an event initiated by the Ministry of Trade in cooperation with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).

Apart from Muslim fashion, the JMFW also featured products from supporting industries, such as textiles, cosmetics, jewelry, accessories, and lifestyle products. The event also featured a trade exhibition and business matching.

Apart from fashion shows from famous brands, the 2024 JMFW provided a platform for the self-actualization of young designers, including academics, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology by showcasing the works of 37 young designers from 12 vocational education units.
