LODGING booking platform Airbnb collaborates with Finnish tourism authority Visit Finland to open up the opportunity for guests around the world to experience an elf apprenticeship at Santa’s official Post Office for three nights.
“We are thrilled that Elf’s Head has decided to share its space on Airbnb and invite families to experience this unique and festive staycation,” said Airbnb General Manager of Northern Europe Amanda Cupples, in a press release.
Santa’s official Post Office is located in Rovaniemi and is operated by the Finnish postal service. The Santa Claus Post Office has been operating since the 1980s. The Santa Claus Post Office building is made of natural stone and pine trees. Every year it is visited by about half a million people from all over the world.
During this year’s Christmas holiday season, Airbnb is opening up the opportunity to stay at Santa’s cabin, near the Santa Claus Post Office for three nights on December 18-21. New orders will open on Monday 11 December at 17.00 WIB.
According to Airbnb, Santa’s cabin in Rovianemi can accommodate two adults and two children. Staying there will be free and includes breakfast and dinner. The cabin is decorated with traditional Lapland decorations and all the fairy accessories.
“We are very happy that families will be able to experience the opportunity of a lifetime when they work together with the head elf at his official post office,” said Senior Director of International Marketing of Business Finland, parent of Visit Finland, Heli Jimenez.
During a stay at Santa’s Post Office, guests will help the elves postmark the Arctic Circle before letters are given to Santa, empty the mailbox and learn about the jobs at the Post Office. After serving as fairies, guests will be treated to traditional Finnish food, take a walk in the snow, see the Aurora and experience the traditional sauna that is characteristic of the country.
Visit Finland is providing free return flights with Finnair from London Heathrow Airport, England to Rovaniemi, Finland for guests staying December 18-21. Guests from outside the UK pay for their own travel to London Heathrow or Rovaniemi.
Airbnb requires that adult guests be over 18 years old and have a verified profile on the platform and have positive reviews. If you invite children, they must be aged 5-11 years. [antaranews/photo special]
