IT IS considered that online travel agencies (OTA) that have been registered as Electronic System Operators (PSE) can increase tourists’ confidence in using tourism services provided by the platform
According to tourism observer, Sari Lenggogeni, it is very important to register or legitimize in giving trust or restoring tourist confidence, yes, strengthening tourist confidence and tourist trust in choosing services from online travel agencies.
“Tourist trust is important for OTAs considering that tourism trends in the last 10 to 5 years show that tourists tend to use OTAs to order tourism services ranging from accommodation to travel tickets,” she said.
Sari explained that if an OTA is not yet registered as a PSE, it could potentially reduce tourists’ confidence in choosing services from that OTA. Apart from the legitimacy of the status as a PSE, Sari mentioned several factors that encourage tourists to choose tourism services from certain OTAs, including the prices or discounts offered and reviews from other consumers.
“Because currently the trend is review-based, whatever consumers decide is based on what other people say, comments, reviews, ratings, stars, and so on,” she remarked.
The provisions for OTA registration as PSE are contained in the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Regulation Number 10 of 2021 concerning Amendments to the Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Number 5 of 2020 concerning Private Scope Electronic System Operators (PM Kominfo 5/2020).
The PSE registration policy is basically a data collection mechanism for PSEs that provide their services in Indonesia in order to build a safe and trustworthy Indonesian digital ecosystem.
“Private Scope PSEs that are required to register are required to submit information regarding, among other things, the identity of the organizer, the name of the electronic system, the official Uniform Resource Locator (URL) of the website, the type of personal data processed, the location of data management or processing.
