ANOTHER a new domestic airline, IndiGo airline’s serve the first direct international flight with a route from the city of Bengaluru or better known as Bangalore, India to Denpasar, Bali.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, in his statement in Jakarta, Friday (03/29), 2024, said that after the pandemic and the gradual recovery of global tourism conditions, Bali has once again become one of the favorite destinations for foreign tourists from India.
“So, the addition of direct flights will be a stimulus for foreign tourist visits to Indonesia in 2024. India has been ranked second as the country with the highest number of foreign tourist visits to Bali after Australia which reached 440,415 visits in 2023 according to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS),” said Sandiaga.
Meanwhile, Deputy for Strategic Policy at the Tourism Ministry, Dessy Ruhati, who was present at the ceremony for the IndiGo Airlines flight on the Bangalore-Denpasar route, said that this flight was good news for direct connectivity from India to the Island of the Gods.
“Apart from ranking second in foreign tourist visits to Bali, India also ranks sixth in foreign tourist visits to Indonesia overall, with 606,439 visits in 2023. Of course, we will always support this ease of connectivity on an ongoing basis, so that it can continue to increase in the future,” Dessy remarked.
Bengaluru is the city with the 3rd largest population in India, which has developed into the “Silicon Valley of India” or the center of India’s technology industry. Where there are the most companies operating in the technology sector in India.
“With this direct flight route from Bangalore to Denpasar, it is hoped that it can contribute to more foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia, especially for the MICE segment,” she noted.
IndiGo Airlines’ inaugural flight on the Bangalore (BLR)-Denpasar (DPS) route is scheduled to begin operating on March 29 2024 with a capacity of 186 passengers. The Airbus A320 Neo aircraft number 6E1605 departs from Bangalore at 00.50 IST (Indian time) and arrives in Denpasar (DPS) at 10.20 WITA with a duration of 7 hours.
