SOUTH KOREAN carrier Jeju Air will officially operate the regular Incheon-Batam-Incheon commercial flight route on October 18. Jeju Air’s inaugural flight from Incheon Airport to Hang Nadim Airport Batam departed on Wednesday (10/17) 2024 at 22:05 South Korean time and arrived at Hang Nadim Airport Batam on Thursday (10/18) 2024 at 02:20 WIB.
PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports), the operator of Hang Nadim Airport Batam, welcomed the opening of the Incheon-Batam-Incheon international flight route, which will be operated regularly by South Korean airline Jeju Air.
According to the President Director of InJourney Airports, Faik Fahmi expressed his enthusiasm and optimism for the opening of this route.
“We congratulate the opening of the Incheon-Batam-Incheon international route operated by Jeju Air. This is also a historic milestone where Batam is now officially connected to South Korea through regular commercial flights. Previously, Jeju Air served the Incheon-Batam-Incheon route through charter flights in 2023,” Faik Fahmi said through his statement, Thursday (10/18), 2024.
Faik Fahmi continued that his party is optimistic that the opening of this flight route will also have a positive impact and multiplier effect on tourism, business, industry and economy in Batam and its surrounding areas.
“We also hope that the opening of this new route will further improve connectivity between Indonesia and South Korea through the airports managed by InJourney Airports, which were previously connected through Soekarno-Hatta Airport Tangerang and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Bali,” he continued.
Meanwhile, InJourney Airports’ Director of Strategy and Technology Development Ferry Kusnowo added that this inaugural flight is an effort to strengthen international air connectivity in Indonesia. In doing so, it can promote business and tourism growth in the country.
“InJourney Airports encourages a hub-and-spoke operating pattern to optimize flight contributions. We hope that tourists from South Korea who arrive via Batam can continue their journey to tourist destinations in other cities in the country through strong flight connectivity at InJourney Airports,” said Ferry Kusnowo.
Jeju Air’s regular Incheon-Batam-Incheon service operates three times a week and will increase to four times a week from October 27. The Incheon-Batam route will be operated every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday with flight 7C-5301, departing Incheon at 21:05 local time and arriving in Batam at 01:30 WIB the next morning.
The reverse route will be operated every Thursday, Friday and Monday with flight number 7C-5302, departing from Batam at 02:45 WIB and arriving in Incheon at 11:25 local time.
With the official operation of the Incheon-Batam-Incheon route operated by Jeju Air, the number of international routes served by Hang Nadim Batam International Airport has increased to 5 routes operated by 4 airlines.
