73 LUXURY CRUISE SHIPS REGISTER TO CALL AT BENOA, BALI IN 2026

STATE-Owned Enterprise PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) announced that 73 luxury cruise ships have registered to call at Benoa Port, Denpasar, Bali, in 2026, following the increase in berthing capacity at the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH).

“In terms of facilities and services, we are ready to become the headquarters for tourism ports,” said Benoa Port General Manager Anak Agung Gede Agung Mataram in Denpasar, Bali, Saturday (11/15), 2025.

He explained that BMTH’s increased cruise ship capacity at Benoa Port has attracted interest from global cruise operators serving routes to Bali. In 2023, interest from global operators increased, with 48 visits with a passenger flow reaching 78,241. The following year, this number increased to 56 visits with 107,717 passengers.

Meanwhile, from January to early November 2025, 49 cruise ships docked with 96,013 passengers, and the total is expected to reach 66 cruise ships by the end of 2025. Cruise routes calling at Benoa, Bali, serve ports worldwide, including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and several other Asia-Pacific regions.

Currently, the international terminal has a capacity to accommodate 3,000 passengers for disembarkation and embarkation, and the pier has increased in length from 150 meters to 500 meters.

The plan is to expand the pier to a total length of 1,300 meters, capable of accommodating four cruise ships simultaneously. By February 2025, the pier will be able to accommodate three jumbo cruise ships simultaneously.

Meanwhile, Fariz Hariyoso, Head of the Bali Nusra Sub-Regional Office, stated that the BMTH infrastructure development progress is 100% complete. Currently, several investors have entered and begun investing in BMTH, a strategic national project in Indonesia.

One of these investors, a company collaborating with a subsidiary of a state-owned enterprise, is building a marina port in BMTH’s development area I.

“A pontoon dock will be built at BMTH to accommodate approximately 180 yachts (tourist boats). This is one of the multiple benefits expected at BMTH,” Fariz noted.

Furthermore, his company is also collaborating with local tourism agencies to develop the Penglipuran Tourism Village in Bangli Regency and make it a destination for cruise ship tourists.

Meanwhile, Benoa Port is currently hosting its 50th and 51st jumbo cruise ships this year: the Silver Moon, carrying 950 crew and passengers, and the Viking Venus, carrying 1,377 crew and passengers. [antaranews]
