THE GLOBAL aviation rating agency Skytrax designated Garuda Indonesia as an airline with the title 4-Star Airline. This rating has dropped compared to before, when Garuda had five-star status.
In its statement, Skytrax said that Garuda Indonesia was certified as a four-star airline for product quality at the airport and on-board services, as well as staff service. Product assessments include seats, facilities (amenities), food and drinks, in-flight entertainment (IFE), cleanliness, and other aspects.
Meanwhile, the service assessment includes cabin crew and ground staff. Skytrax also explained that Garuda Indonesia previously held the title of five-star airline. However, during the ongoing restructuring period, a number of product aspects experienced a decline in standards.
“Garuda Indonesia is undergoing a period of restructuring. Airline status. While staff service standards remain good, product standards have fallen too much in recent years to maintain their ranking levels,” wrote Skytrax.
Based on the summary of ratings displayed by Skytrax, for the long-haul flight category, both Garuda Indonesia’s business class and economy class received a four-star rating. Meanwhile, in the short haul flight category, business class and economy class also both achieved four stars.
The Skytrax World Airline Star Rating program is a quality certification for airline product and service standards that has been running for more than 20 years.
