AIR MOBILITY for residents of Bandung and West Java will soon enter a new phase. Super Air Jet is preparing to open eight direct flight routes from Husein Sastranegara International Airport to several strategic cities in Indonesia.
The eight routes to be served include Medan (Kualanamu), Pekanbaru, Padang, Batam, Pontianak, Balikpapan, Makassar, and Denpasar (Bali). The presence of these new routes is expected to strengthen Bandung’s connectivity with various national economic, educational, tourism, investment, and trade centers.
Super Air Jet explained that the eight destination cities were selected based on their role as centers of national economic growth, leading tourist destinations, educational cities, and important transportation hubs connecting various regions in Indonesia.
Bandung, as a creative city with a large population of students, young professionals, business people, and creative industry workers, is considered to have a growing need for air mobility.
Therefore, the presence of direct flights from Husein Sastranegara Airport is expected to provide faster, more practical, and more efficient travel.
In addition to supporting business and educational travel needs, the opening of these new routes also addresses the high mobility of millennials and Gen Z, who now consider air travel a part of their lifestyle.
This mobility is not only for travel, but also for pursuing educational opportunities, expanding professional networks, attending various activities and events, working flexibly, enjoying tourist destinations, and even creating digital content.
Through these eight new routes, Bandung residents will have easier access to various national activity centers.
Medan is a strategic destination because it serves as the gateway to North Sumatra, with its vast potential in the business, education, and culinary sectors, as well as access to leading tourist destinations like Lake Toba.
Meanwhile, Pekanbaru is known as one of the centers of economic and industrial growth on the island of Sumatra. Padang offers potential natural tourism, rich Minangkabau culture, and is also one of the important educational cities in western Indonesia.
In the Riau Islands, Batam holds a strategic position as a center for investment, manufacturing, and the digital economy. The city is also a major gateway to Singapore and Malaysia.
Pontianak is also an important destination because it serves as a center for trade and MSME development in West Kalimantan, and is also known for its cultural diversity.
Meanwhile, Balikpapan plays a vital role as the gateway to the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) and is one of the largest business, energy, and investment centers in East Kalimantan.
For Eastern Indonesia, Makassar serves as a major hub connecting various cities in Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua. The city is also developing as a regional center for trade, education, and healthcare.
Meanwhile, Denpasar, Bali, remains a favorite destination for Indonesians and international tourists. The Island of the Gods offers a variety of tourist attractions, sports tourism, music concerts, cultural festivals, and is a destination for creative workers and digital nomads.
All flights will be operated using Airbus A320-200 aircraft with a capacity of 180 economy class seats. This modern aircraft features a more spacious cabin, ergonomic seats, adequate baggage storage space, and is designed to provide a comfortable flying experience for passengers.
The launch of eight new Super Air Jet routes from Husein Sastranegara Airport is expected to be a significant boost to accessibility in Bandung and West Java.
In addition to boosting the growth of the tourism and creative economy sectors, these services also provide convenience for people traveling for business, education, and leisure to various regions in Indonesia. [sources/photo special]
