LUHUT: HUMAN RESOURCES ARE THE KEY TO DEVELOPING LABUAN BAJO TOURISM

COORDINATING Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said human resources were the main key to developing the super priority tourism destination (SPTD) Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara.

“Therefore, the role of the church is very important to discipline the community so that we can work,” said Coordinating Minister Luhut virtually at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the Development of Super Priority Tourism Destinations (SPTD) Labuan Bajo between the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the West Manggarai Regency Government, and the Ruteng Diocese in Labuan. Bajo, Monday (9/6).

Luhut said tourism development must start from improvements in human resources (HR) itself.

He considered that what was needed to create superior and competent human resources was the synergy of all parties. So, the collaboration of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the West Manggarai Regency Government, and the Ruteng Diocese is important to make Labuan Bajo a quality destination.

According to him, Labuan Bajo must be prepared as a quality and sustainable destination, especially to welcome several international activities that will be held later.

Luhut continues to urge the provincial and district governments to carry out various regional development innovations. Programs must be continuously monitored and work quickly.

He hopes that Ruteng Diocese can become a strategic partner in communicating and strengthening the commitment to care for the nation in the community. One of them is communication to realize sustainable tourism in Labuan Bajo.

He asked the church to continue delivering messages of discipline regarding the COVID-19 health protocol and development. If the community is disciplined, then super priority and sustainable tourism in Labuan Bajo will occur.

Luhut also emphasized that the real commitment of various parties is the key to successful development. Therefore, all parties must work hand in hand and work together for the success of development in Indonesia. [antaranews/photo special]
