BUDI: NGLORAM AIRPORT FLIGHTS ARE VERY POPULAR, FULL OF PASSENGERS

MINISTER of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi said that currently Ngloram Airport, Blora Regency, Central Java, has served two flights every week and is always full of passengers.

“Currently, Citilink (airline) has flown it twice a week, and it’s full of interest,” said Minister Budi Karya during the inauguration of Ngloram Airport by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in Blora, Friday (12/17), as broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s official Youtube channel.

The Minister of Transportation also appealed to the Regional Government of Blora Regency and its surroundings to take advantage of flight services from Ngloram Airport. The length of the Ngloram runway is currently only 1,500 meters, and can be used by ATR type aircraft.

“As for the ATR (plane), so the next possibility can be done further,” said Budi Karya.

The Minister of Transportation expressed his gratitude to the Central Java Provincial Government, Blora and Bojonegoro Regency Governments who helped build road infrastructure.

“This shows the commitment of the Central Java Government, and the district, and Bojonegoro are also building roads. This shows that development is progressing despite the pandemic,” he said.

At the same time, said Budi Karya, the government is also building airports in Fak Fak Regency, Mentawai Regency, Mandailing Natal Regency, Asmat and Nabire Regency.

“Hopefully next year everything will be finished,” said Budi Karya.

Previously, he continued Ngloram Airport was an airport owned by PT Pertamina Persero and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources which was built to support the company’s operations and has not operated since 1984. Ngloram Airport was then rebuilt by the Ministry of Transportation in 2019 to 2021.

“Ngloram Airport has a 1,500×30 meter long runway, 142×23 meter taxiway, 90×60 meter apron, and a 3,526-square-meter passenger terminal. The airport also has a 3,600-square-meter passenger terminal with a capacity of up to 210 thousand passengers per year,” Budi concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
