TOURISM MINISTRY INVITES EO’S TO PREPARE POST-COVID-19 ACTIVITIES

THE Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy invites tourism players and event organizers (EO’s) to collaborate to produce an activity that has the potential to attract foreign and domestic tourists when the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak is over.

According to the Deputy for Tourism Products and Activities of Tourism Ministry, Rizki Handayani Mustafa during a virtual discussion of Bakusapa with the Indonesian event industry movers, some time ago explained, it opened the opportunity for organizers to collaborate on holding a large event so as to be able to bring tourists.

“We are ready to facilitate the event organizers. We want to collaborate with industry players so that more foreign tourists are present and more domestic tourist movements,” Rizki Handayani said.

She also explained, Tourism Ministry has a program of activities in the field of tourism products, and organizing activities, among others, increasing the organization of activities, increasing the support of activities, and increasing the promotion of organizing activities.

In addition, for the event promotion strategy, Rizki Handayani explained that it will establish cooperation related to the promotion of events with the tourism industry related to organizing events or industry marketing partnerships.

“Then establish cooperation related to the promotion of events with the tourism industry related to the organization of the event. As well as involving local communities in making story telling related to the event and encouraging them to disseminate information on organizing the event,” she noted.

Rizky Handayani took an example, New Zealand Tourism undertook an Industry marketing partnership with VisitorPoint, which is part of the global travel-tech group, Adventium Technology. In this collaboration, VisitorPoint distributes more than 3500 electronic brochures with content related to New Zealand tourism operators throughout New Zealand.

“The electronic brochure is connected directly to the VisitorPoint online system so that consumers who see the information can immediately click and order travel packages as needed. We can also help to work together with the Online Travel Fair. So we will help with the event organizers in funding the promotion to advertise the event in one of the OTA or marketplace. Not only that, we also have been communicating with Garuda Indonesia in the near future as airline partners. So that it is not only branding but has gone towards selling,” Rizki added.

Rizki Handayani also invited event organizers to jointly innovate and produce ideas for activities that could be carried out when the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak passed. Moreover, it is predicted that there will be a boom in tourism in 2021.

“We have to think about the recovery from now on, some countries have started soft promotion which emphasizes that after the pandemic is over, we are still there to wait for the return of tourists. And this will become its own strategy,” Rizki Handayani concluded. [traveltext.id]
