DYANDRA: DUE TO COVID-19, IIMS AUTOMOTIVE EXHIBITION 2020 WILL BE CANCELED

PT DYANDRA Promosindo as the organizer of the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) participated in supporting the government program in breaking the chain of distribution of COVID-19.

According to Hendra Noor Saleh, President Director of PT Dyandra Promosindo, in his official statement said that after the previous one would be postponed, but by observing the dynamics of the COVID-19 pandemic day after day, and official government predictions about when the outbreak would end, with clear and wise consideration, Dyandra stated that the IIMS performance will not take place in 2020.

“The decision not to implement IIMS 2020 is not a populist policy. We have taken this step to prioritize the interests of many parties, primarily from the health side as well as supporting the government’s decision to decide on the spread of the COVID-19 virus,” Hendra said.

He added, while the impact of COVID-19 provided quite critical conditions for the country’s automotive industry. Based on data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), in January-March 2020 there has been a decline of 15.6% compared to the same period in 2019.

Likewise, data from the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI) which estimates domestic sales to fall by 25-30% by the end of 2020. This has increased since the implementation of the PSBB in April, which made sales of both cars and motorbikes increasingly freefall.

“We understand and share the automotive market conditions that are weakening due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so of course the focus of APM and the automotive industry is internal market efficiency and recovery. However, IIMS’s commitment to continue supporting sales, marcom APM, and aftermarket programs will remain echoed this year,” Hendra noted.

Furthermore, Hendra said, Dyandra Promosindo will run IIMS 2021, whose schedule has been set long ago, namely on February 18-28 at the same location, Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

By always carrying the spirit of advancing the automotive industry, Dyandra will hold IIMS 2021 with a new face, multiple determinations, and a new normal concept, we are committed to implementing IIMS next year with a spirit of celebration of creativity, culture, digital, and automotive industry innovation.

“We are optimistic and hope that the Covid-19 pandemic will soon pass. We believe that the Indonesian automotive industry will soon rise and IIMS is a dynamic bridge to revive the glory of the automotive world in the country,” he concluded. [special photo]
