THE airport of El Tari Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, will be a destination that is integrated with other modes of transportation to provide convenience and comfort for the community.
According to the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya emphasized that after conducting a visit to El Tari Kupang Airport as conveyed in the written statement of Public Relations and Protocol of the Regional Secretariat of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, the concept of developing El Tari Kupang International Airport became one of the integrated destinations.
“We definitely support the development of an integrated El Tari Kupang International Airport, of course this is in line with the President’s policy and we will definitely report this to the President,” Budi Karya said.
Meanwhile, Director of PT Angkasa Pura I for Marketing and Services of Angkasa Pura, Devy Suradji, explained that the development of El Tari Kupang International Airport is currently experiencing very rapid progress. This can be seen in the expansion of the airport terminal, which previously covered an area of 7,642 m2 to 16,064 m2, meaning that there is an expansion of the airport terminal of 8,400 m2.
“In realizing the development of El Tari Kupang Airport to become an integrated destination, in principle we are ready to follow up, because between the Minister of Transportation and the Governor of Bali it is in line with us (Angkasa Pura) to coordinate with the NTT Provincial Transportation Office to carry out technical matters,” Devi noted.
Meanwhile the Governor of East Nusa Tenggara, Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat, said that the tourism sector has become the locomotive for the development of this area. NTT has extraordinary potential so it needs to be done seriously and correctly in order to increase the economic income of the people of NTT.
“El Tari Kupang Airport must be an integrated destination. Therefore, a local touch is needed, not only the appearance, there is even involvement of local MSMEs in the airport,” Viktor concluded. [antaranews]
