ERICK: BUMN CONTINUES TO BUILD FACILITIES FOR DOMESTIC TOURISTS

STATE-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Minister Erick Thohir revealed that the State-Owned Enterprises Ministry will continue to build facilities that are affordable and can serve domestic tourists.

“According to the commitment of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises together with the Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy and the government does not want to forget domestic tourists and not subordinate domestic tourists. We continue to build affordable facilities that can serve domestic tourists,” said Erick Thohir in his statement in Jakarta, Wednesday (28/4).

Erick sees that there are many assets owned by State-Owned Enterprises in the City of Jakarta, not only buildings but also the Sunda Kelapa port facilities under Pelindo that can be synergized, and can make the City of Jakarta a new tourist destination.

He conveyed that the transformation at the Ministry of  State-Owned Enterprises was not only in corporations, but which was no less important in public services. Already in 2020, the cooperation between the Ministry of  State-Owned Enterprises and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government can run well in transportation modes that are in accordance with the direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), considering that this is very important to serve people who need better transportation.

“Because it is also under the umbrella that we carry out in this transformation, we ensure to build a healthy ecosystem with the private sector, other ministries, Bank Indonesia, and of course the local government, especially today, Wednesday (28/4),”  Erick Thohir stated.

Minister Erick Thohir attended the signing of the main agreement on the formation of a joint venture company to manage the Kota Tua-Sunda Kelapa area. This is the moment for the implementation of collaboration in the management of the Kota Tua-Sunda Kelapa area through the formation of a Joint Venture (JV) by the Jakarta Experience Board/PT Jakarta Tourisindo (JXB), PT Pembangunan Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero) or known as Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), and PT Moda Integrasi Transport Jabodetabek (MITJ).

The collaboration of the three entities was marked by the signing of the Head of Agreement (HoA) document carried out by the Managing Director of JXB Novita Dewi, President Director of ITDC Abdulbar M. Mansoer and President Director of PT MITJ Tuhiyat.

The collaboration between the central government and local governments (State-Owned Enterprises/ Regional owned enterprises in revitalizing Kota Tua and Sunda Kelapa through this joint venture (JV) aims to revive the Kota Tua-Sunda Kelapa area into a world-class tourist destination.

The formation of the JV as area manager is also expected to be a breath of fresh air for the accelerated development of the Kota Tua-Sunda Kelapa area as a pedestrian-friendly tourist destination in north Jakarta. [antaranews/photo special]
