INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy encourages the acceleration of the use of digital modes or digitization for Human Resources (HR) in the tourism and creative economy (parekraf) sectors as an effort to recover the economy during the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, said the pandemic presents challenges in the form of digital disruption that occurs on every line, and creates various opportunities to the loss of various livelihoods in the tourism & creative economy sectors.
“This is part of our acceleration challenge in the digitalization era which affects not only the tourism sector but also all sectors in general in the creative economy sector. For that we need training related to digitalization, such as online-based content creation and marketing techniques,” he said at the pre-national coordination meeting Tourism Minsitry with the theme Virtual Human Resources and Institutional Development Pillars, Thursday (7/15).
In order to adapt in the midst of this pandemic, Sandiaga also explained that currently the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is no longer pursuing tourist arrivals, but is focusing on encouraging sustainable tourism or higher quality tourism. Currently, nature and culture-based tourism is the main attraction in the midst of a pandemic. The tourism sector is a very strategic sector as proven in 2020, the contribution of the tourism sector to the country’s GDP reaches 4.1%.
“We maintain this figure, instead we want to increase the quality of based tourism and sustainable tourism is expected to contribute to GDP reaching 5-6% in the next few years. Plus, the creative economy sector which is targeted to contribute 11-12% to GDP, we will make a big contribution in the coming years,” he said.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has also taken transformative steps in the field of HR, because building infrastructure is not complete without developing its human resources. Minister Sandiaga also believes that Tourism Ministry will present fair policies to the community in new ways, by encouraging increased human resource development, this sector will have the potential to open up new and quality jobs.
“We see the competency certification facility for 16,300 tourism & creative economy (parekraf) human resources as an acknowledgment of their competence and we can increase competitiveness in accordance with the Indonesia’s National Work Competency Standards (SKKN). To realize this, of course, it is not only the physical that must be built, but also the human being. Therefore, training and mentoring programs have been prepared to produce quality human resources, who are able to take advantage of business opportunities and create the widest possible employment opportunities,” he noted.
Meanwhile, the Deputy for Resources and Institutions of the Tourism Ministry, Wisnu Bawa Tarunajaya, added that there were several discussion points in the pre-Rakornas which raised the big theme ‘Developing Superior and Competitive Human Resources Capacity in the Digital Era for Recovery and Opening of Job Opportunities and Business Opportunities’ in the Tourism and Creative Economy sector.
Later, continued Wisnu Bawa, the outputs to be achieved are the first model of training and certification of the competence of the Regional Creative Economy Agency, the second model of mentoring tourism & creative economy HR in Tourism Villages and the development of independent tourism & creative economy HR through entrepreneurship, and the third model of strengthening relations between institutions in order to increase collaboration and program synergy. cross-institutional between ministries/agencies.
“And the expected outcome is economic growth in tourism destinations through the capacity of tourism and creative economy human resources and inter-institutional relations,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
