According to the Ambassador RI to Paris, Arrmanatha Nasir at the opening ceremony of Merci Beyond Bali, (7/23) at a Merci concept store in Paris, said that the presence of Indonesian products at Merci shows that, even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the resilient Indonesian people continue to work. work, to grow and recover from the impact of the pandemic.
“Merci Beyond Bali not only aims to promote Indonesian creative products, but also brings the experience of visiting Indonesia to Paris. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of French tourists to Indonesia reached around 285,000 people, so that through the promotion of the Indonesian creative product ‘Merci Beyond Bali’ from July 21 to August 22, 2021, Parisians can treat their longing for travel to Indonesia a little,” he said.
He added that Merci Beyond Bali was here to treat the longing of the French people who could not take a vacation to enjoy the beauty of Indonesian culture and the green scenery of the Emerald Equator, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Merci Beyond Bali promotion, which was originally planned to be carried out in 2020, is held this year to welcome the 76th month of independence of the Republic of Indonesia. The main lobby of the Merci store has been transformed in a special way to decorate the huts amidst green trees and terraced rice fields like in Bali.
Each of the huts displays a variety of Indonesia’s creative riches presented by about 28 brands from Indonesia. Starting from fashion products, clothing, accessories and knick-knacks, bags and wallets, to furniture and cutlery, all of them read ‘Made in Indonesia’.
“These products are the result of curating Merci’s own store and are imported and purchased by Merci directly from Indonesia. A number of items were already sold out on the first day of the promotion. The CEO of Merci told me that he would re-order some products because they were sold out,” said the RI Ambassador.
To commemorate 76 years of Indonesian independence, continued Nasir, the Merci store will design a special t-shirt to be sold exclusively and limited on August 17, 2021. Although the t-shirt design is still being kept secret, Merci’s CEO gave a leak of the design that was made, which is expected to inspire Indonesia Tough, Indonesia Grows.
The opening ceremony of Merci Beyond Bali which was attended by the Indonesian Embassy in Paris partners from businessmen, designers, culturalists, French and Indonesian media as well as the Government and the French Parliament.
