THE DISTRIBUTION OF ASSISTANCE FOR TOURISM PLAYERS WILL BE MADE EASIER

INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy encourages that the distribution of assistance, especially for tourism and creative economy players, is facilitated in terms of data collection and its mechanism.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, in the Weekly Press Briefing, Monday (8/2) said to support this, the Ministry of Tourism is also preparing an application to record and facilitate the distribution of government assistance for tourism and creative economy players.

“This application aims to facilitate data collection and distribution of government aids. In addition to facilitating data collection on prospective beneficiaries, this data collection application is also prepared so that the distribution of assistance such as Presidential Assistance for Micro Enterprises (BPUM), social assistance, and Government Assistance for Tourism Businesses with a budget ceiling of IDR2.4 trillion is right on target and accountable,” he said.

He explained, to note, the National Economic Recovery (PEN) program in the tourism and creative economy sectors with a budget ceiling of IDR2.4 trillion was prepared in various programs. The programs that can be run in the early stages of the realization of this PEN are Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) certification for tourism businesses, support for the film sub-sector, hotel accommodation support for health workers, and government assistance for tourism businesses (BPUP) which is currently in the finalization stage.

“It is hoped that the distribution of this assistance will be right on target, on the right benefits, and on time and we will encourage this as a step from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy for the community in the midst of this Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) Level-4 period. We will continue to use these programs for the tourism sector and the creative economy,” he remarked.

Sandiaga explained that this assistance also does not carry the concept of grant funds. Instead, the assistance is directed to businesses in the tourism sector and the creative economy to prevent layoffs.

“This assistance will not only be distributed in Java and Bali, but also in super-priority destinations, areas with hotel and restaurant tax realization of at least 15% of the total PAD (regional original income) in 2020, and areas that are included in Kharisma Nusantara Event,” explained Sandiaga

In addition, continued Sandiaga, Kemenparekraf is also running hotel accommodation support for health workers amounting to IDR300 billion. We have proposed this amount and we are waiting for the realization from our friends at Committee for Handling Coronavirus Disease 2019 and National Economic Recovery (KPC-PEN), but we hope that this commitment can be prioritized for our brothers and sisters on the front line, namely health workers.

On the same occasion, Sandiaga said that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy also participated in overseeing the restructuring program for banking obligations, and guaranteeing people’s business loans.

Meanwhile, regarding the acceleration of vaccination, Sandiaga said that his party had coordinated with hoteliers to present a vaccination center in order to achieve the vaccination target of two million doses per day that had been set by President Joko Widodo. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will continue to encourage massive vaccination programs in five super priority destinations on August 6, 2021 and in areas that are included in the scope of the Nusantara Kharisma Event.

Regarding the promotion of the tourism sector & the creative economy of the country, Sandiaga said that promotions will continue to be carried out during the PPKM Level 4 period by utilizing digital platforms so that Indonesia remains the main choice for domestic and foreign tourists after the COVID-19 pandemic.

“There are several activities that use social media platforms which in fact reduce costs but increase the effectiveness of tourism promotion and the creative economy in the country,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
