THE MINISTRY of Social Affairs held an exhibition of the work of persons with disabilities at the ministry’s office from Wednesday, December 1-3, 2021 as part of the commemoration of International Day of Disability which fells on December 3.

“International Day of Disability is not just a ceremony, but we can fill it with displaying the work of our friends with disabilities that are not inferior to the works of friends who are not considered disabled. Actually, they are able to work more,” said Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini at a press conference in Jakarta. The Ministry of Social Affairs’ Aneka Bhakti Building, Wednesday (12/01).

She ensured that in the future it would eliminate discrimination against persons with disabilities in terms of communication, communication, and employment. It is also ensured that people with disabilities continue to receive facilities that suit their needs wherever they are.

“Frankly, my dream is that there is no difference between disabilities and other people. If people with disabilities want to study in public schools, then give them the opportunity to study anywhere, especially by providing facilities and infrastructure,” said Risma.

In the exhibition, works of persons with disabilities were displayed, such as paintings on canvas, paintings on scarves, and handmade products. All of these works can also be purchased directly by visitors.

Risma said that she would continue to facilitate people with disabilities so that they could at least be physically equal to non-disabled people. She gave an example that now there are chairs so that people with cerebral palsy or cerebral palsy can sit and even walk so that they are equal to non-disabled people.

“Similarly, for blind people, I ask for electric batons to be made to help our blind brothers and sisters become independent and reduce the help of others,” she remarked.

All products to facilitate people with disabilities, from cerebral palsy chairs, electronic wheelchairs, to electric crutches are made by people with disabilities in halls spread throughout Indonesia. On the second or third day of the exhibition, Risma said that she would invite people with disabilities to assemble the products to demonstrate the speed and accuracy of their assembly.

“Because I see that compared to foreign products, disability products are more refined and perfect,” Risma concluded. [traveltext.id]
