INDONESIA NOW IS READY TO WELCOME DIGITAL NOMADS TO WORK REMOTELY

INDONESIA is ready to welcome tourists, including digital nomads, who can work from anywhere as long as there are supporting facilities to work remotely.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said Indonesia was ready to welcome newcomers from all over the world, including digital nomads who want to find the right location to work remotely such as Bali, where there are many supporting infrastructure, facilities, as well as a lifestyle. connected to nature and local communities.

Research conducted by Harvard Business School shows that digital nomads, and remote workers in general, can be a breath of fresh air to support the economy, and they can also play a role in driving entrepreneurship in the communities they live in, creating “tech clusters” around the world.

Sandiaga believes that collaboration between the government and the private sector can help revitalize the Indonesian tourism industry with a new focus on migrants who are more qualified and want to stay or vacation longer.

In the midst of a new normal in tourism travel, Sandiaga is optimistic that collaboration between the government and the private sector can create a more sustainable and resilient tourism sector, as well as a more durable economic impact, and more diverse job opportunities at the local level.

The Tourism Ministry will collaborate with private platforms on various initiatives, including to build a dedicated hub (website) for Bali that will showcase the best local long-term stays as well as important information on entry requirements and visa policies to attract remote workers.

The partnership also includes a number of educational campaigns to promote more responsible hosting and travel as a remote worker. The hub for Bali is expected to launch this year. [antaranews/photo special]
