GRIYA KARYA HARAPANKU PERFORMS PERFECT TO WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY

INDIVIDUALS with Special Needs or Individual Berkebutuhan Khusus (IBK) were given space to show their skills, they confidently waltzed on stage like models at a fashion show. This commemorates World Down Syndrome Day. Dozens of IBKs with extraordinary talents showed off their skills at the CSB Mall Atrium, Cirebon City recently.

There were paintings, dances, clothing designs, poetry readings until they were seen swaying on stage wearing great works from three fashion designers, the three little designers from Cirebon.

According to the Deputy Mayor of Cirebon, Eti Herawati, said that activities like this can build the independence of every child. This is also one of the stimulations to build children’s independence to become confident, understand human relations through the training and guidance process that has been undertaken.

“Our party appreciates Griya Karya Harapanku for providing care that is built for children with special needs in Cirebon City. This activity further convinces me that every child is born unique and has talents, including extraordinary children who today will display their talents,” she said.

Meanwhile, Founder of Griya Karya Harapanku, Irene Lukita, said that not only from Cirebon, the participants who participated in enlivening World Downsyndrom Day were also followed by various great children from various regions. Especially we invited a developmental disorder (Down Syndrome) painter who has been worldwide from Jakarta, Diego Luister Berel who deliberately exhibited 6 of his paintings for us to enjoy.

“We have a community of special children, individuals with special needs are open from anywhere, do not see any brand, all children can participate in showing their creativity,” she said.

Irene Lukita explained that Griya Karya Harapanku fosters dozens of children with special needs, until they are able to have independence to produce valuable work.

“After they have become independent in themselves, then we do provision such as planting hydroponics, if the women make beads, make masks so that’s what we do, and their work is sold for income for them,” she said.

Irene Lukita added, we also equip parents who have children with special needs, so that they are better prepared to train their children’s growth and development so that they can be independent and have skills.

“We also hold training for parents to understand Individuals with Special Needs, we do this collaboration. in addition to management, there is also training for implementers under psychologists, there are also sessions for parents and also from the children’s side, from various religions, from anywhere we accept,” she concluded.
