HAMAD International Airport (HIA) in Doha, Qatar, was named the World’s Best Airport 2024 in the annual Skytrax World Airport Awards 2024 on Wednesday (04/17), 2024.
“HIA is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year and we are very honored that our passengers have chosen us as the world’s best airport for the third time,” said Qatar Airways Group CEO, Eng. Badr Al Meer, as reported by the World Airport Awards, Friday (04/19), 2024.
In addition, Hamad International Airport also won awards in the categories of Best Airport Shopping in the World (World’s Best Airport Shopping) and Best Airport in the Middle East (Best Airport in the Middle East).
According to CNN, Hamad International Airport is one of the airports that offers free city tours for certain passengers. This facility is an added value. The Oryx Airport Hotel is also located at this airport. Travelers can enjoy the spa, squash court and a 24-meter swimming pool at the hotel.
Singapore Changi Airport has won this award 12 times. Over the past decade, Changi Airport and Hamad International Airport have gone back and forth for the title of “Best in the World”. This year, the award went to Hamad International Airport for its ultra-modern design, easy-to-navigate terminals and luxury shopping.
Previously, Changi Airport won the title in 2023 and 2020, while Hamad International Airport won in 2022 and 2021. Changi Airport also won awards in other categories, namely Best Airport in Asia and World’s Best Airport Immigration Service.
Skytrax, the UK-based airline and airport review and ranking site, surveys travelers each year to compile a list of the world’s best airports. This award is based on the World Airport Survey questionnaire completed by airport users of more than 100 nationalities.
Conducted between August 2023 and March 2024, the survey assesses user experience across a range of airport services and key product performance indicators, from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, and security/immigration. Data for the list was collected from respondents in more than 100 countries between August 2023 and March 2024.
