FINANCE Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati reiterated President Prabowo Subianto’s appeal for all stakeholders to work together to preserve the stability of Indonesia’s national economy amid ongoing global uncertainties.
“The president said that in 2025, we should raise a sense of optimism in maintaining the economy to be stronger, more resilient, and bring prosperity to the community amid the unpredictable global economy,” she remarked at the opening of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) 2025 Trading on Thursday (01/02), 2025.
As frequently emphasized by the president, Indrawati highlighted that Indonesia possesses a wealth of natural resources and holds a remarkable geostrategic position.
The minister remarked that given the country’s wealth and the mandate of its founders to manage the economy with a focus on kinship, current stakeholders should prioritize the welfare of all Indonesians.
This indicates that stakeholders must be committed to improving, strengthening, and driving national progress, she emphasized.
In conveying the president’s messages, Indrawati stated that the financial services sector should align with the government to bolster the economy and improve the welfare of the people.
She acknowledged that 2024 presented significant challenges. The government and the financial services sector faced their toughest obstacles in the first semester of the year.
“Finally, in August, we saw the light at the end of the tunnel, just a sliver of light. Some improvements have begun to occur,” the minister noted.
She also highlighted the positive performance of the 2024 State Budget, which concluded in a healthy and secure manner as the new year approached.
According to the minister, state revenues in 2024 were still on an upward trajectory compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, state spending in 2024 through the state budget was also substantial.
“The 2024 state budget deficit is nearly in line with the initial state budget law. This is an extraordinary result, much lower than the semester report, which was predicted at 2.7%. This means that our state budget concluded in 2024 in a relatively healthy and safe position,” she concluded. [antaranews]
