THE Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy has responded to the latest news related to the positive status of two Indonesian citizens who have been declared Corona positive. The implementation of the tourism sector’s stimulus policy aimed at new foreign tourists will be carried out until the outbreak of Covid-19 subsides and the atmosphere returns conducive.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Wishnutama Kusubandio in his statement in Jakarta, Monday (03/02/2020) conveyed the most important thing in the current condition is to prioritize handling and anticipation so that it will not become more widespread.
Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy is also very concerned over the increasingly widespread outbreak of the virus that was first reported to have occurred in Wuhan, China. Even two Indonesian citizens have been tested positive for corona as well as being the first Covid-19 case in the country.
“In the meantime we will focus more on the program of handling foreign tourists entering Indonesian destinations at the start of the virus spreading period, increasing the quality of tourism destinations through environmental sustainability, health and hygiene, and safety and security,” he said.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has also continued to monitor the development of the tourism ecosystem amid the corona virus outbreak that occurred in Indonesia.
“We also want to express empathy to the two citizens who have tested positive for the corona virus. Hopefully the two residents who contracted the corona virus can recover and do activities as before,” Wishnutama said.
Wishnutama also explained that currently the government has a Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) that has standardization according to the criteria applied internationally. Besides also having a special budget that is prioritized to deal with these problems.
“This is not only to maintain the safety and health of all Indonesian people, but also the conduciveness of Indonesian tourism which is vulnerable to conditions, perceptions, and issues,” he said.
The Ministry of Tourism also continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Health and other relevant parties to monitor the current development of the corona virus.
“We also appeal to tourists or the community to continue to maintain health and maintain body immunity and start the movement of healthy living in accordance with government directives,” he noted.
In addition to handling and preventing Corona virus, Wishnutama also realizes how important it is for the government to maintain the sustainability of the country’s economy. Incentives aimed at domestic tourism actors are still ongoing and will continue to be monitored.
“The government also ensures that the corona virus case has actually been prepared, for example hospitals, more than 100 hospitals are prepared with isolation rooms regarding corona virus with good isolation standards and are equipped with adequate equipment in accordance with international standards,” he concluded.
Wishnutama also conveyed an appeal that tourists visiting a tourism destination always pay attention to aspects of their health such as maintaining hygiene, washing their hands, enhancing immunity, and heeding directions/appeals from the local government. Also do not forget to always update information about referral hospitals around tourism destinations. [traveltext.id]
