FOR Indonesian citizens (WNI) and foreign nationals (WNA) who will enter Indonesia by air in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, they must meet the requirements set by the government of the Republic of Indonesia.
The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation issued Circular Letter No. 85/2021 (SE 85) concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of International Travel by Air Transportation During the COVID-19 Pandemic (SE 85) which is effective as of October 14, 2021.
According to the Director General of Civil Aviation, Novie Riyanto in a press release quoted on Saturday (10/16) said that every Indonesian citizen (WNI) and foreign citizen (WNA) who will enter Indonesia must follow the provisions that have been set in accordance with the issuance of the circular letter (SE).
“The issuance of the new regulation refers to the SE Task Force for Handling COVID-19 No. 20/2021 which aims to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 through monitoring, controlling, and evaluating international travel by air transportation,” he said.
He explained that Indonesian citizens and foreigners who will enter Indonesia must follow the provisions set by the government of the Republic of Indonesia, including carrying out a PCR test, having been vaccinated with a complete dose and of course also complying with all health protocols, including carrying out a PCR test at the arrival airport and carrying out a 5×24 quarantine time.
“This policy is very important to ensure that Indonesian citizens and foreigners who enter Indonesia do not have the potential to bring imported cases and prevent the entry of new variants of the COVID-19 virus,” he said.
He detailed, the provisions referred to include the obligation to show a complete dose of vaccine card and a negative RT-PCR result from the country of departure a maximum of 3×24 hours before departure and must fill out the E-Hac through the PeduliLindungi application or manually at the airport of origin. Then foreigners are required to show proof of ownership of health/travel insurance which includes health financing in quarantine.
“For those who have not received the vaccine abroad, they will be vaccinated at a quarantine place upon arrival in Indonesia, after getting a negative result of the second RT-PCR examination,” he added.
Novie continued, the foreigner can receive the vaccine on condition that he must meet the age requirements of 12-17 years old, holder of a diplomatic/service residence permit, holder of a Limited Stay Permit Card (KITAS) and Permanent Stay Permit Card (KITAP). Meanwhile, foreigners who are already in Indonesia and will travel both domestically and internationally, are required to vaccinate through a program or mutual cooperation scheme in accordance with statutory regulations.
The obligation to show a vaccine card is excluded, including foreigners who enter through the Travel Corridor Arrengement scheme, travelers under 18 years of age and travelers who have special health conditions/comorbid diseases that prevent them from being vaccinated.
“For comorbid conditions, passengers are required to show a certificate from the Government Hospital of the country of departure in English other than the language of their country of origin,” he concluded. [sources/photo special]
