APPROXIMATELY 476,000 foreign tourists visited Indonesia during July 2022, the highest achievement or record since the pandemic. Based on data from July 2022, there have been 476,970 foreign tourists visiting Indonesia.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in a Weekly Briefing at the Sapta Pesona Building, Central Jakarta, Monday (9/5), saying that in July 2022, foreign tourist visits to Indonesia (reached the highest number) since the pandemic (COVID-19). These foreign tourist arrivals were dominated by five countries, namely Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, India and the United States with a percentage increase of almost 40%.
“Cumulatively from January to July, the number of foreign tourist visits reached 1.2 million visits. The total increase was almost 15 times. This increase, was triggered by the Visa on Arrival policy for foreign tourists, especially to Bali. Bali has reached 246,504 visits as of July 2022,” said Sandiaga.
He explained, this is the highest number after the pandemic (COVID-19) with the number of visits per day reaching nine thousand visits. Where these foreign tourists enter Indonesia through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport and Benoa Harbor.
Regarding the visa on arrival policy, Sandiaga said that currently there are 75 countries that have entered the list of visa recipients on arrival with the addition of three new countries, namely the Maldives, Monaco, and Colombia. And there are an additional nine countries subject to visa-free visits for special tours to Indonesia, namely the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
