ADMINISTRATOR of the Likupang Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, Richard Dondokambey, said the management of the tourism area is different from other regions, because it is based on conservation.
“The Likupang Tourism SEZ was developed by prioritizing nature conservation and was built as The Hub Conservation Base Tourism in Sulawesi,” said Richard in Manado, Monday (7/9), 2023.
The Likupang Tourism SEZ, according to him, is an important eco-region in the world because it is a habitat for 37% of the endemic diversity in Indonesia. “Therefore, the management of the Likupang SEZ is carried out very carefully,” he said.
Investment development, he said, will be carried out in stages and in the future the establishment of the Likupang SEZ will prioritize quality tourism.
Richard added that until the second quarter of 2023, the investment absorbed for the development of this area had reached IDR234 billion. As many as 650 workers are absorbed in this region.
He is optimistic that the development of the Likupang Tourism SEZ will have a positive impact on increasing economic growth and prosperity in North Sulawesi, especially North Minahasa Regency.
