CHINA’s catering industry reported a strong recovery in 2023, with total revenue approaching 5.29 trillion yuan (1 yuan=IDR2,171) for the first time, according to official data. The figure reached a record high last year, according to China’s National Bureau of Statistics.
By 2023, the catering industry will generate operating income growth of about 2 trillion yuan in the agriculture and by-products and food processing sectors, according to calculations from the China Hotel and Restaurant Association.
Of the nearly 15.73 million catering companies across China, more than 4.1 million of them were newly registered last year, with private companies accounting for more than 80%, industry data shows. [antaranews]
