THE INDONESIAN Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy expressed its support for the implementation of the 2024 International Tourism Investment Forum (ITIF) as an impetus to increase investment in the tourism sector and sustainable creative economy in Indonesia.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in “The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno”, at the Sapta Pesona Building, Central Jakarta, Monday (05/13), 2024, said that this activity was held for the second time in Indonesia. This time, ITIF will be held in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) National Strategic Project Area (PSN), North Jakarta. In 2023, ITIF will be implemented in the Nusa Dua area, Bali.
“(ITIF 2024) carries the theme Elevating Tourism Investment for Sustainable Growth and we are directing this platform towards sustainable tourism because the planet, people and prosperity are always the reference (development of tourism and creative economy),” Sandiaga said.
Meanwhile, Deputy for Industry and Investment at the Ministry of Tourism, Rizki Handayani, added that ITIF 2024 will be held on June 5-6, 2024 at Swissotel PIK. The conference will also feature a number of side events, including a roundtable discussion with several delegations from countries such as India and Russia on investment in the tourism sector and the creative economy.
“There is also a roundtable related to Indonesia’s potential opportunities in general, where the regional government that has the project will present the project plan in front of potential investors,” Rizki remarked.
Likewise, Promotion Director for America and Europe, Ministry of Investment/BKPM, Sri Endang Novitasari explained that investments in the tourism and creative sectors have a very fast recovery period. It was recorded that during the COVID-19 pandemic or around 2020, investment in the tourism and creative sector decreased by up to 35%.
“Meanwhile, by 2021, investment in Indonesia’s tourism and creative sector will increase by up to 46%. So, I see investment in the tourism and creative sector as very promising. Of course, the hope is that with this ITIF, it can encourage the entry of more foreign investment,” Endang noted.
At the same, Triawan Munaf, Deputy Chairman General for Tourism and Creative Economy at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), also hopes that the ITIF will be able to increase foreign investment in Indonesia’s creative and creative sector. So that Indonesia’s tourism and creative economy sector can grow and develop rapidly.
“ITIF is a collaboration between the business community and the government to attract investors to promote faster and greater growth of the parekraf sector. We hope that incoming investments can continue to support the sustainable growth of the tourism and creative economy sector,” Triawan concluded.
