THE New Capital City Authority (OIKN) is eyeing to complete and inaugurate several new infrastructures in IKN Nusantara, East Kalimantan, by December 2024.
“We are targeting several infrastructures for completion in December 2024, followed by inauguration,” OIKN head Basuki Hadimuljono stated on Wednesday (12/11), 2024.
Several infrastructures at IKN targeted for completion in December 2024 include the Garuda Palace, the State Secretariat Office, and the Building and Office Area of the Coordinating Ministry.
He remarked that the Ministry of Public Works also continues to prioritize maintenance for the management of electricity, drinking water, and sanitation facilities.
“Maintenance aims to ensure the comfort of state civil servants (ASN) and other residents moving to IKN,” Hadimuljono remarked.
The head called for collaborative completion of the construction of IKN Nusantara. IKN is not merely a project but a new civilization development program that must be completed together.
Hence, he affirmed that the Public Works Ministry and other ministries and institutions collaborated to provide inputs regarding the development, relocation, and implementation of IKN Nusantara.
He explained that based on data from the Public Works Ministry, the progress in the development of IKN Nusantara has currently reached 61.7 percent, which includes 109 packages, with an absorption of the State Budget (APBN) of approximately Rp89 trillion (US$5.4 billion).
President Prabowo Subianto had instructed to continue the relocation of the nation’s capital city to IKN Nusantara. The head of state plans to start working in IKN on August 17, 2028.
Prabowo remarked that the IKN development is still on track, with the budget available in the Ministry of Public Works to continue the infrastructure development.
Hadimuljono stated that the increasing developmental progress reflects the readiness of basic infrastructure at the new capital for ASN relocation in early 2025 and the plan to move the national capital in 2028.
He has also suggested several groundbreaking agendas to be carried out by President Prabowo at IKN in the near future. This will be Prabowo’s first groundbreaking agenda at IKN since he took office on October 20. [antaranews]
