THE Women’s International Club (WIC), founded 75 years ago, is a social and non-profit organization of women of different nationalities who work together to raise funds to develop education and improve welfare in Indonesia.
According to WIC President, Mrs. Nazneen Khubchandani on Wednesday (04/30), 2025 at handing over ceremony at WIC’s office said the handover of this aid, which can be realized from the results of the WIC Jakarta Charity Bazaar fundraising on November 13-14, 2024 at the Jakarta Convention Center.
“Those who participated in the bazaar were 42 embassies of friendly countries, 230 national entrepreneurs, 3 social foundations, WIC White Elephant and others. The net proceeds of the bazaar will be used to improve social welfare, education such as scholarship programs, social projects and social welfare projects,” she said.
She explained that the WIC Bazaar itself is a charity bazaar where 100% of the funds raised from this event will be donated to orphanages, nursing homes, children with special needs, and scholarships for underprivileged students.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Nancy E.R. Fatwan, the head of the committee team, said based on the evaluation results of the Bazaar Proceeds Committee (BPC), which is the committee that evaluates the use of this year’s bazaar proceeds, WIC Jakarta handed over assistance to representatives of 11 projects that were deemed worthy of receiving assistance from the results of WIC Jakarta Charity Bazaar last year.
“This event also followed by signing of handover documents for each project and the bazaar proceeds collected that will be donated to the representatives of the humanitarian projects beneficiaries of WIC bazaar proceeds 2023-224 are 11 projects with a total value of about IDR450 million,” Mrs. Nancy affirmed.
She also explained that the eleven recipients of this bazaar assistance will be used for various necessary needs such as renovation and refurbishment of the old school, purchase of textbooks, new classrooms, procurement of laptops, donation to fund a child’s heart surgery and utensils for cooking class.
Likewise, Tommy Hermanses, Founder/CEO of MATALESOGE hospitABLElity Academy, one of the beneficiaries of the humanitarian projects at the WIC bazaar, said, we are very grateful for the support given to us because it is very helpful to our trainees in developing one of our programs, which is the cooking class needed such as refrigerator, electric oven, fruit blender, water dispenser, frying pans and cooking utensils.
He added that empowerment is a pure value that must be “transmitted” through forums and communities that share the same humanitarian vision. Any individual, community or institution that cares about inclusiveness will always join hands to provide equal opportunities.
