WINGS AIR HAS NOT YET RECEIVED FLIGHT PERMIT FROM BANDUNG AIRPORT

THE Director of Air Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, Agustinus Budi Hartono has announced that Wings Air has submitted an application for an operational permit at Bandung’s Husein Sastranegara Airport. However, his office has not yet granted the airline a flight permit.

“Wings Air has submitted an application for the permit; however, we have not yet granted approval for flights from Bandung,” he stated during a press conference in Jakarta recently.

According to Budi, the flight permit has not yet been issued because his office is working to ensure that Kertajati Airport in Majalengka remains operational, especially given the significant budget allocated to it.

“Given the substantial size of the airport construction in Majalengka, it would be unfortunate to not take advantage of it,” he said.

Meanwhile Bandung Mayor, Muhammad Farhan previously urged the central government to immediately reactivate Husein Sastranegara Airport.

He stated that the airport closure has led to a decline in tourist visits and has had a negative impact on Bandung’s economic and tourism sectors.

“Our objective is to restore the method by which we previously activated it in 2019. Halim Airport now handles four million passengers annually. The city of Jakarta has gained significantly, while West Java has not experienced comparable benefits. This approach aligns with the fundamental principles of logic,” Farhan stated at the Bandung City DKPP Office on Jalan Arjuna recently. [kompas.com/photo special]
